Hi, I'm Frase.

I'm a filmmaker from Edinburgh now n Bonny Bristol. I've been a touring songwriter for over two decades, five albums since my debut release, 'and the Girl with the Strawberry...', back in 2003.

At one point I was on tour with Chuck Berry as his support act, which still feels slightly surreal.

One night on stage he grabbed my arm as he lost his balance mid-duck-walk and I managed to hold him.

So I can say I once saved the Godfather of rock 'n' roll from falling on his arse. :-)

Somewhere along the way, alongside making music, I was making films, and I soon realised the instincts were the same.

I love people, especially that human energy when it fills a room and is allowed to grow and build into something shared.

I once shot a tiny scene that changed how I see my film work: I reversed the footage so a bird flew backwards across a cobbled square in Bordeaux. So it was landing on a rooftop as the last of the day's sunlight slipped across the tiles.

I aligned the landing with a single note on a piano, and watching it back, I cried.

There's something in the alignment of audio and visuals that I find to be beautiful, and that's what I try to bring to every project.

I also bring something harder to name. I was recently diagnosed with combined ADHD, which means I feel things deeply, sometimes too deeply. I've spent years learning to work with intense feelings and focus rather than against them.

Winning Best Music Video for my film 'ColdEyes ' at Worcester Film Festival in 2024 should have been pure joy, but I had never won anything before and found that instead, I felt overwhelmed and chose to leave early.

That moment stayed with me because it taught me how important it is to create spaces where people can feel safe and be comfortable being seen.

That's the heart of it.
